Voice disorders and teaching profession
Poremećaji glasa kod predavača
Abstract
Symptoms of voice disorders can adversely affect the teachers ability to function in the classroom and prevent them from developing effective working relationships with students and other staff. Sick leave, speech pathology management, and surgical intervention can be expensive, in terms of time and costs. Severe voice problems can also lead to the permanent loss of the teaching position. The teacher would therefore be considered a professional voice user and as such needs to be aware of indicators of vocal distress and the factors that contribute to voice disorders.
