Open-view submucous vestibuloplasty using the crestally based mucosal advancement flap: A versatile modification of Kazanjian's technique
Apstrakt
Kazanjian's vestibuloplasty was modified in order to eliminate secondary epithelization of the labial donor site of the mucosal flap. The crestally based mucosal flap was stretched and subperiosteal stay sutures placed at the bottom of the future sulcus leaving a 5 mm wide free mucosal margin. This mucosal strip was advanced and its periphery sutured to the free edge of the labial incision. This technique created U- shaped bottom of the sulcus and the scar that was placed out of denture borders. By using this modification satisfactory results were achieved in 15 of 16 patients.
